Yes, Early Bird gets the worm! For
many years, I had been getting up early due to my job that I had from 1998-2008.
I had to be at work 5:30 in the morning and sometimes earlier than that as
needed. Now, I don’t have that job anymore. Yes, it is very hard to break the
habit of getting up early at 3:30 or earlier. Well, for number of years, I had
to make myself go back to sleep and that wasn't easy either. With the Lord’s
help, last month, I gave up making myself go back to sleep after 5:30 in the
morning and started a new habit for His Glory.
Now, I am getting up at 5:30 when the
alarm clock goes off or before its goes off. I will go to the bathroom and then
wash my face to be refreshing for the day. Then I will spend my special quiet
time in prayer; spend time studying His Word in the book of Romans, meditating
His Word, read the Gospel, memorizing the Fighter Verses from Desiring God, and
reading Daily Devotional (currently Holiness Day by Day by Jerry Bridges).
I am finding this way a lot better for
me, and I am being more thankful for this special quiet time early in the
morning instead of having to find the time during the day to pray, to study in His
Word, to read the Gospel, to meditate, to memorize the Fighter Verse, and to read
Daily Devotional. The old way was too crazy and thoughtless to my crazy
extrovert schedule for the day.
I do thank the Lord for enabling me to
have my special early morning quiet time without all the schedule distraction. By
the way, I will not turn on the computer until after I have finished my special
quiet time first thing in the morning.
Yes, I still am reading other books throughout
the day depending on my crazy extrovert schedule for the day. So far, I have
read 25 books this year. I am still currently reading a lot of books. Early
this year, I made a goal to read 36 books a year or 3 books a month. Yes, I am
ahead of my goal. Last year, I read 49 books and the Bible twice (one time in
book form and one time online).
I would encourage you all to have a
consistent fix schedule of quiet time in prayer, studying in His Word,
meditating in His Word, reading the Gospel, and memorizing His Word (Fighter
Verses by Desiring God). You will be amazed by how much better to have a consistent
fix schedule in spending time in His Word. I am thankful that I changed from my
bad habit of going back to sleep in longer into getting up early to have this
wonderful special quiet time for His Glory. If I can do it, then you can do it.
Hungry for His Word,

What a great encouragement! I love to be exhorted...we all need it and it is lovely to have sisters come alongside us :) I would like you to consider sharing your writing each Wednesday weekly by linking-up on the Deep Roots 'EOA' link-up. It is a sweet community of friends...by commenting on a few each week, you will often get those who write a not back to you. Over time there are friendships built and lives encouraged! Blessings to you and a hug!
