Scandalous by D.A. Carson

Tonight, I had started reading Scandalous by D.A. Carson this time with color pen, highlighter, notebook paper, and Bible of course. I went back to the beginning of it again because I reading it when I was having my lunch break at work but without the tools that I needed.

Back in March, I had won this book through Allen Mickle, Jr.'s blog. Thank you, Allen Mickle, Jr.

So tonight, I had my dinner date with D.A. Carson "by reading his book and not him in person" and Scandalous. Yes, I did read the copyright page which I always do. I wrote "OUCH!", when I learned the translation that D. A. Carson was using. He was using NIV and not ESV. Then I had to reminded myself that D.A. Carson had approved of TNIV or go to another link, and another link. Again OUCH! Here is the link that is against TNIV. I am against TNIV too. I am not trying to put down D.A. Carson over his use of translation.

On the other hand, Scandalous was published by Crossway this year and also the publisher of ESV "English Standard Version". My thought was, "Why did Crossway allowed NIV and not using ESV?". I thought that was very odd. Although, nothing wrong with NIV. I am so thankful that they didn't use TNIV. I am not against NIV, nor I am not anti-NIV. But still I thought that it is very odd.

In spite of the fact that NIV translation is being uses in this book, I have already had enjoy and learning from this book, Scandalous. I am on page 20 now. I still have a long way to go. It is a interesting book so far.

The truth is that I am not crazy or am not intoxicated about NIV. I am crazy and intoxicated about ESV because it is word for word translation. The reason why I am not crazy about NIV, because NIV is a combination of word for word and thought for thought.

Lord willing, I will write a book review about this and will give you the other godly book review links about this book as well.
