On the back of the book, there is a quote which did summary up to what this book is about:
"Augustine never thought of God without thinking of his sins, nor of his sin without thinking of Christ."
His lovely mother, Monica faithfully prayed for her son to be saved and to come to know Christ. She got her prayer answered.
His main struggle was lust and didn't want to be free and yet do want to be free from it but want to hold onto it. This is what he said:
"But I, wretched, most wretched, in the very commencement of my early youth, had begged chastity of Thee, and said, 'Grant me chastity and continence, only not yet.'" The Eight Book and Chapter 17.Do we have the same problem with our sins that we want to be free and yet hold onto it? We all need to be free from bondage and let go that is hurting us and hurting our relationship to Him.
I am looking forward to read other books that point us to Christ! The Lord is so good!
