Oh Give Thanks to the Lord...

This morning I was at Firestone to have my FORD (Fixed Often Repair Daily) fix. As I normally bring my Bible, and whatever book I am currently reading, and sometimes homework with me. I was devoting myself into eating His Word, and thinking about Him, and His goodness, and how thankful I am for Him. I was praying and thanking Him for the blessing that I don't deserve. Then I got When I don't desire God by John Piper and started to read again and reading His Word too. When I got to chapter How to Wield the World in the Fight for Joy "Using All Five Senses to see the Glory of God" then got to page 186. WOW!

John Piper pointed out the passage in the Bible that repeated over and over.

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures
forever! Psalm 106:1 ESV

This passage repeated over and over and you will see that in Psalm 107:1; 118:1, 29; 136:1; 1 Chronicles 16:34; 2 Chronicles 7:3; 5:13; and Ezra 3:11.

Are we giving Thanks to the Lord over and over like we ought to?

I know that He is so good and His steadfast love endures forever! He is so good to me that I don't even deserve this wonderful blessing and even for a small things that we don't even think about His blessing to us.

Let me share the blessing that I got over the weekend. This is what I wrote to my some of my church family by email:

I know that the Lord is so good to me even when I don't deserve this. This year had been a great year on dog food because I had been getting buy one and get one free at either Harris Teeter or Food Lion. It seems to come at the right timing for me to get some every time. Well, Harris Teeter started to do that again on Nov 14 to 20. I went on Friday the 16th, but they were out. Then I went again on Tuesday, 20th, and again they were out of it. This time I got the rain check because the sale would have gone out that night. This past Friday 23rd, I went to pick them up and pay for it. I got more than I excepted to get. This was my first time for the rain check. I was about to pay for the dog food which should be $13.49 without tax for one bag of dog food (cheaper at Food Lion). But she rang it up with another VIC sale over the buy one and get one free which makes double bargain, and I did question her about that because I didn't want to cheat on her or take advantage of that. She said this is right and told me about another sale (Nov 21 to 27). Guess how much I had to pay for it? I just need to pay just at $7.19 for just two big bags of dog food. That is what I call a real surprising blessing.

Can you see that the Lord is so good in that in every way?

Let us continue to Give thanks to the Lord for He is so good to us. As John Piper said "It does not say, Give thanks to the Lord, for He gives good things."

Hungry to eat His Word,
