A Baptist Catechism Question 2

I do hope that you had memorized A Baptist Catechism Question 1. I had and found it is a blessing to think about them and ponder the meaning this wonderful catechism.

This is from
Desiring God's website. A Baptist Catechism by John Piper. Lord willing, I will do one question each week on every Sunday night. I am not editing it or changing what he had written.

Are you ready for the second one for this week? I do hope so!

Question 2: What is the chief end of man?

Answer: Man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.

Scripture:
1 Corinthians 10:31; Psalm 16:11; Psalm 37:4; Psalm 73:25-26; Isaiah 43:7. (All the scripture links go to ESV.org) ESV is English Standard Version. Without going to the link, I have post all the scriptures below.

Comment: "Glorify” does not mean make glorious. It means [to] reflect or display as glorious. Other words you could use for "end" are "goal" or "purpose".

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 ESV

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 ESV

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26 ESV

Everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
whom I formed and made.” Isaiah 43:7 ESV
