Memorizing His Word

For many years, I have memorized part of the verses or passages that would help me to overcome the problems that I am facing in my life. It has challenged me and changed me to think how I should be thinking or living my life to be more Christ-like. It has help me a lot.

When I am having hard time with something, my best friend would have me to memorize a passage or a verse or two that is related to my hard time. It's does really help me a lot. She will check on me to see if I am memorizing the verses.

On Dec 31st, 2006, Pastor Justin was preaching a sermon about Treasuring His Word. He also challenge us to memorize 34th Psalm and Romans 8 this year. When I learned about this challenge, I was so excited about it. I knew that I can do this. I have never memorized the whole chapter before but in verses or passages. I do believe that memorizing the verses or passages and the whole chapter are good for us and for our live in our walk to be more Christ-like.

I am so thankful for this challenge!

I do memorize the verses. I love it. Early last week, I finished memorizing 34th Psalm. I am still quoting them so that I will be able to continue to have that store in my heart. Now, I am working on the 1st Psalm.

I sometimes forget to quote some of the verses in the 34th Psalm. Last night and early in the morning while sleeping, I was quoting 34th Psalm, but I realized that I had left out some of the verses. OUCH! I know that I am not perfect. I got to work on them.

I find it better when I am hungry to eat His word. Read Jeremiah 15:16, Psalm 1:2-3 and many others.

As the church family, we are memorizing 34th Psalm and will memorize Romans 8 after we finish 34th Psalm . It is a wonderful way to do it as a church family because we hold each other accountable and checking on each other "Have we done our part?" and quote it back to them.

If your church family isn't doing this, find someone to hold you accountable to ask you often you about memorize the verse and quote it to them. It work very well for me. I love that way.

It is so easy to be lazy about it when we don't have the challenge or accountability partner to hold you accountable. It will keep you on your toes.

It is not hard to memorize His Word as we are eating His Word with joy and hunger. It would be hard if we don't want to memorize His Word.

You can listen to my pastor's sermon on Dec 31st about Challenge 2007: Treasure His Word. It's will tell you why it is so important to Treasure His Word. go to

I do hope this will challenge you to memorize His Word and Treasuring His Word in your Heart.

Hi! neirad,

where in the world did you get that name? Oh, I got that you had spelled it backward. It's cool to spell it backward. It did take a while for me to think where in the world you got that name. Also,I love your cute old school picture. Thank you for the encouragment too.

I just remember someone special's birthday today too.
